When we say that Thompson Brothers Exterminating and Waterproofing is a family business, we mean it in every sense of the word. This summer, as Corey Powell and Alex Gagne started working with the team at Thompson Brothers, they became the 4th generation of family members to be a part of this business. You see, for us, the business is not just work – it’s our family’s livelihood, and we’re passionate about it.

Thompson Brothers Exterminating and Waterproofing was started by Chuck and Don Thompson (you guessed it—two brothers) in 1957. Just three years later, Ed Powell purchased the business, which kicked off the family line of business owners we know now.

Ed’s sons Danny and Lynn Powell went to school, learned the business, and took over its operations, in keeping with the tradition of brothers running the company. Now, Danny’s son Darren works alongside his Uncle Lynn to run Thompson Brothers. And this summer, Corey, Darren’s son, officially joined the business. We’re keeping an eye on him, as he’s been telling us since age 12 that he planned to own Thompson Brothers one day. Sticking to his word, Corey has been working here every summer since the 8th grade.  And adding a change-up to the brothers name tradition, Darren’s step-daughter, Alex Gagne, is now working for Thompson Brothers.

We probably should have changed the name to Powell Brothers at some point, but by now, Thompson Brothers has become a known and trusted company throughout the Carolinas. The Powell family runs this company with a personal touch, a true commitment to service and care that sets us apart from other big, national firms.
